After a discussion between members of admin, we have decided that the group will no longer accept Black Rock Shooter since it is not Vocaloid. From now on, all BRS-related submissions will be declined.

The rules on the group front page [link] have now been updated to reflect this change. All BRS-related content will be cleared shortly, and the BRS folder itself will also be deleted soon. (EDIT: The BRS folder and all its content has now been removed. BRS-related content in all the other folders such as cosplay and figurines will also be gradually removed in the next few weeks).

Thanks very much for your patience and understanding.

More on submissions: quality

We've been getting lots of questions about this, particularly when submissions are declined. While it's true that judgement of art quality lies with each individual mod who is voting on a submission at the time, every submission should follow basic quality guidelines. We get a massive volume of submissions every day and unfortunately that means we have to be more strict about what we can accept.

That means:

:bulletred: You should not submit art that seems to have barely any effort put into it, as judged by members of our admin. Our mods can tell who has done a 10-minute coloring job and who has spent more time on their artwork! Any work that feels "unpolished" or "unfinished" will only end up getting declined.

:bulletred: Scanned artwork needs to be clean. If your scan is blurry/dark/overexposed or has visible scan lines, we are not likely to accept the submission even if the artwork itself is stellar.

:bulletred: This also rings true for cosplayers. Please do not submit blurry, dark or overexposed photographs of your cosplay as we will not accept them. You don't need professional photography for this! We have seen crisp, clear cosplay photos taken even with smartphones and personal cameras.

:bulletred: Additionally, cosplay stands for "costume play", so please don't submit headshots / face shots that barely show any of your costume. What we see from photos like that are this is a face wearing a wig, rather than a cosplay. And this is already in our rules section, but we DO NOT accept wig tests / makeup tests / costume tests (you'll be surprised how many submissions like this we get every day!). All cosplays must be 100% finished and worn in such manner in order to be accepted.

:bulletred: As mentioned in our rules section: "photography of figurines with no artistic value whatsoever are NOT allowed". If our admins judge that a figurine photo has barely had any effort put into its artistic value, we can't accept the submission. We can tell the difference between a quick cellphone snapshot and a carefully composed photograph of a figurine! And once again, blurry/dark/overexposed photos are not accepted - they must be crisp and clear.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to ask us anytime, or better yet, to consult the list of rules on the group's front page.

Expired Submissions

We apologize for the amount of expired submissions recently and would like to ask you to please be patient with us!

For the sake of fairness, each submission requires more than one mod to vote on it in order for the deviation to be accepted into the group. There are times when there's only one mod around to vote and all the other mods are busy with RL.

IF YOUR SUBMISSION EXPIRES: please resubmit, and leave a comment in the correspondence message of your new submission with a link to the expired submission, and explain to us that it was expired. That way, when we reach your submission, we know what the problem is straight away and we can access/see everything. Please do not comment on the front page of the group because that makes things harder for us - it's really, really hard to find the submission in question when we have to comb through hundreds of other people's submissions to do so.

Thank you all for your patience, and happy submitting!

Deviation Rules:
:bulletblue: Please make sure you follow the deviantART Submission Policy that you agreed on upon joining the site.
:bulletblue: You must be a member of the group to be able to submit deviations.
:bulletblue: All pairings are allowed, but keep it PG-13 as there are some members who are younger here.
:bulletblue: The deviation must be yours or you must have gotten permission to use it; stealing is not tolerated. This also includes using someone else's art for the cover of a fanfiction - WE WILL NOT ALLOW THAT.
:bulletblue: The deviation has to be primarily Vocaloid-related, cross-overs are allowed but must be submitted to the Other Fanstuff folder.
:bulletblue: Submission Limit: 2 deviations per month per folder.
:bulletblue: We do not permit any of the following: sketches; works in progress; linearts; screenshots of wallpapers; forum signatures or avatars made with images that you don't own, traced, copied or eyeballed deviations.
:bulletblue: Variations/Edits of your own deviations are not allowed.
:bulletblue: You may not upload cosplay photos that have very little difference.
:bulletblue: Cosplayers must NOT submit "wig tests" or cosplay items.
:bulletblue: Cosplayers must also not submit any deviations that do not have a sense of effort put into, as judged by our administrators.
:bulletblue: Photography of figurines with no artistic value whatsoever are NOT allowed
:bulletblue: WE NO LONGER ACCEPT BLACK ROCK SHOOTER. BRS is not Vocaloid - we will now decline all BRS-related submissions.
:bulletblue: Submit memes and Flash games to the "Other fanstuff" folder
:bulletblue: Deviations are not guaranteed to be accepted, nor is it necessary to submit it in the first place. We will have little quality control over works submitted, and if deemed not good enough by our admins, they may not be accepted.

Please make yourself aware of the folders before you submit your deviation.

The Reporting System.
Basically, you will have 3 chances of breaking the rules before you are banned. These will be strikes. If you get a strike, you will get a message saying the following:

Dear :dev username:

Your submission has been declined because it goes against the Vocaloid-fanclub Rules. Please also read about our Reporting System. You have "x" number of strikes out of 3 before you can be banned.

Please make sure that you think before you submit. We don't want to ban any members because this is a club where you have fun!

Here are the thing you can and cannot be striked for:

Things you can be striked for:
~coloring FFA lineart
~Tracing/copying
~Stealing art
~Editing another artist's work (color overs, etc.)
~Using bases
~Submitting non-Vocaloid work
~Mature content (over PG-13)
~Screenshots of wallpapers/desktops/PVs/etc
~Submitting an already declined deviation
~Sketches*
~WIP (unfinished pictures, lineart, etc.)
~Being rude to administrators or other club members
~Spamming our group page

Thing you don't get striked for:
~Wrong folder submission
~Wig tests
~Low quality photos

*So sketches are a bit on the gray area. We will accept sketches, but only if they are well done sketches, with shading, good composition, neat, and photographed/scanned well. Simple or rough sketches done in a few minutes will not be accepted and will be striked if submitted.

Even though there are things you don't get striked for, please don't submit it anyway. It will make it easier for the admins and will allow you to have more submissions per month.

Another important note: WE WILL NOT REPORT YOU UNLESS WE HAVE PROOF!.

And about submitting into the wrong folder - we get several incorrect folder submissions. When you submit a picture into Vocaloid-fanclub, don't immediately click "Submit". This will submit it automatically into the Leon folder and, chances are, your submission will be declined before you can resubmit it. Please take a few seconds to select the correct folder and you won't have to worry about the submission limits.

Another reminder: MMD pictures belong in the MikuMikuDance folder while cosplay photos belong in the Cosplay folder. They do not belong in the corresponding Vocaloids' folders.

Let us know about...
:bulletblue: Shout-outs
:bulletblue: Vocaloid-related contests
:bulletblue: Any other information about Vocaloids

...so that we can spread the word!

Hi, I know you recently sent us a note about this deviation and I already responded to it; unfortunately I have to give you the same answer as I did in the note. Which is: please leave a comment in the correspondence message of the submission instead of the group's front page.

The correspondence message contains all of the info e.g. which folder the deviation was submitted to, what date it was submitted and which mods voted yes/no on it, etc etc. If you comment on the front page, or even if you note us, we have access to none of that information so we can't see what the problem is and can't answer your question.

We get so many submissions (about 100 per day, sometimes more) it'd be nearly impossible to scroll through all of the pages to find yours. (Just imagine if for example you submitted this one week ago, we'd have to comb through about 700 individual deviations until we find yours. The admins also have RL commitments so spending the hours doing this is just not feasible). Commenting on the correspondence message shows us the problem right away and gets you your answer.

Hello, sorry for bothering you but I had a quick question. Do plushies fall under the figurine category or are they considered "other fanstuff"?

Submit to Other Fanstuff for now, if it's more appropriate for the Figurines folder I'll help move it afterwards. :)
