31st January 2012

Last day of January! Today we'll be looking at several things, but to start...

Many people have probably already found this out, but there have been recent problemns with Vocaloid reprints being taken down, even ones where permission is granted. If this has happened to you, please make a counter-notification to Youtube. One to look out for is Media Interactive Inc, who has no relation or right to take down Vocaloid music. This has also been noticed by many Japanese fans. As well, an MMD video has popped up regarding this by a fan. If you're a Twitter user, also use the hashtag "#SAVEMIKU".

Let's not forget about Aoki Lapis! Her contest ended a while ago, and winners have been announced. Please check them out here. Do you recognize the winner's style? They're a popular artist, that's a hint for you.

Weekly feature of songs and facts!

This time we're featuring a very nice song from SeeU. It is Arirang - SeeU

Also, Vocaran has Romantic Hero - Gumi, a nice rock song.

Lastly, an interesting fact for you all: New Vocaloid IA has a staggering amount of popularity in such short span of time, that it led her to even top the Vocaran before she was even released (Headphone Actor).

30th January 2012

Happy birthday Luka! As a Vocaloid from Crypton, KarenT will always celebrate such dates with album releases. See what's in store for her on KarenT. unfortunately it's not as many albums as other times, but it's still something! Have fun!

29th January 2012

NIKKEI Japan Report (their 33rd show) talks about Hatsune Mikuhere. It describes her popularity and introduces Vocaloids in a sophisticated way. The report has even been seen in Japan, and whilst the original version contains Japanese people speaking but voice-overed by someone who spoke English, the Japanese version is voice-overed over the English version as well.

28th January 2012

The unreleased Gumi Native (which is only the working name) is set to be an update for Gumi's default voice from V2. However, according to Murakami Noboru's tweets, who is the CEO of Internet Co .,Ltd by the way, this update will not require Gumi's original V2 software. With this, they are also unsure about the time it will be launched, and also Vocaloid2 Gumi may no longer be available soon.

iDOLMster released yet another DLC for Hatsune Miku's Append outfit: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_lJ59… (Miku also appears at the end singing Melt by Supercell).

Gekkayo Vocaloid Fan Vol. 4 is a magazine/book which had a collection of Vocaloid3 samples in their raw state (this means there have been no edits to make their voices sound more realistic. They run the different Vocaloids through the same VSQX file. To hear samples and read more, please refer to the <a href="www.vocaloidism.com/2012/01/28…"Vocaloidism article.

26th January 2012

Do you have Vocaloid3? There's an update for it, this is update 3.030. you should be able to look for it here.

CEO of Internet Co .,Ltd, Murakami Noboru has been working on Gumi's default voice, making a new one for Vocaloid3. The project is has been named Gumi Native, and you can hear her demo here.

A new trailer for Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai comes out! And if you don't know already, some of the songs have been refined using Append versions (however that's only for the released Appends). The trailer shows us many more songs. The first song that is played in the trailer is by DECO*27, and is the theme of the game, similar to how Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Extend has Sekarinun Graffiti as the theme.

Have you been keeping up with IA's daily demos? They end today, because she is now officially released in Japan! Please look at her website for wallpapers as well!

25th January 2012

Does it seem like Vocaloid news has slown down a bit?

Hello, today we have IA's guidelines as presented by Vocaloidism in English. These guidelines mean you can only do certain things with the image of IA and it's vocals. Rules are explained for commercial and non-commercial purposes.

Good Smile Company also wants some images of their Vocaloid figurines! If you have any, please upload a photograph of it so they can compile it into a giant image of Good Smile Company's Hatsune Miku Cheerful Ver. Nendoroid! Please read more here.

23rd January 2012

Hello there! As usual, your weekly dosage is served:

First, we have our own chosen song, which goes nicely with our featured art: Hi Fi Raver - Hatsune Miku, Gumi, Megurine Luka. If anyone feels this sound is familiar, it's because this is EasyPop!

Next, another famed producer. Do Re Mi Fa Rando - Hatsune Miku is top on the Vocaran, and is created by 40Meter-P (art by Tama).

Last, but not least, a fact to satisfy your curiosity: Something known as the Miku Formula has appeared. It stands for the type of clothing that is often found in other Vocaloids, or UTAUs.

21st January 2012

Another song that will appear in Aoki Lapis' CD "Daydream Flight", it's Think the Future by Taishi! If you recognize that name, it may be from IA, because IA has also had a demo by Taishi (Falling Apart). It has a cool techno feel, different from other demos. It breaks down into dubstep in the bridge as well, for all you dubstep-lovers!

The final "Miku no Hi Kanshasai" will also be available to watch via Nico Nico Douga! They will stream i, however there is a price. Please continue reading on Vocaloidism.

19th January 2012

You can now order the boxed version of Oliver! Please the PowerFX website.

17th January 2012

EDIT: Miku is now at the top of the unofficial Olympics singer poll!

The Chinese Vocaloid has been revealed! Although they said it would be revealed in February, they have speeded it up for their conference of Vocaloids in Shanghai, China (Gumi and CUL were also promoted personally by Murakami Noboru, CEO of Internet Co., Ltd). The name of the Vocaloid is Yayin Gongyu (雅音 宫羽
), however this is the winning artist's chosen name, which may be changed later on. Gongyu's name are two notes of ancient Chinese music (such as in English we have "do re mi"). Her surname, Yayin, means "elegant sound", so it is both a Japanese styled name and contains a reference to Crypton's Vocaloids. The voice direction will be lead by Taoguang Peng, an expert of synthesizers.

The voice of Gongyu is Shan Xin, a voice actress. You can also listen to her sing here. However, for a new demo of Yayin Gongyu, can also be found. This is an updated version, with her new voice. Yayin Gongyu's art will also be redrawn by ideolo. Also according to the artist that drew Yayin Gongyu, she is 15 years old.

16th January 2012

Weeklies! We have our first CUL feature! So this week it's Angel Rhythm (it is annoyingly catchy, but I do like it personally!)

This Vocaran was actually quite good! I personally picked out a lot of songs that I liked, but that depends on the person's opinion. EZFG (composer of Cyber Thunder Cider) strikes again, this time armed with VY2 and VY1V3! One can only wonder about what they can do with VY2V3 as well... anyway, here is Totemo Itai Ita Garitai.

And last but not least, a fact. If you don't watch the Vocaran already, a wave of famous Vocaloid producers from the past have come back. Examples include doriko and iroha (sasaki).

Alright, since a lot (and I mean truly a lot) of people have mentioned this to us, we have decided to post it. Hatsune Miku is one of the few "artists" that are voted to be in the 2012 Olympics in England this year. You can vote here. She was in 16th place yesterday but has now shooted up to 2nd place. However Super Junior have been 1st place for quite a while so it may be difficult to get Miku any higher, but do try! Anyway, that aside, please note that this will NOT judge who will sing at 2012 Olympics. It is simply a poll. There was a bit of controversy when Hatsune Miku was removed for not being able to produce a sound by itself (as it uses the speakers or other audio outputs), however she has since come back.
nother teaser, and from OSTER Project again. It comes with OSTER Projects new CD, and here is a sample. This is a popular song, called Piano × Forte × Scandal.

There's also a Kaito Append teaser, updated version of What's Color?.

Lastly, Len Append and Kaito Append, in Lost Destination.

15th January 2012

For those that haven't guessed already, Leon and Lola are also celebrated in the Zero-G Garnet Festival because their birthday is the next day! These two were the first ever released Vocaloids! Well done for being there, Leon and Lola!

Next, it has been told from the tweets of the official IA Twitter (ia_project) that there will be an upload of a new IA demo everyday until the release, which is the 27th of January. Visit their site for today's dose of IA demos! (The "SAMPLE TRACK" section is where you'll find it. Latest songs are at the bottom).

14th January 2012

Happy birthday Prima! Prima is the first English Vocaloid2 from Zero-G. It seems that Prima, along with Leon and Lola, are celebrated on Nico Nico Douga in an event just for them; Zero-G Garnet Festival (also known as ZGF). Why Leon and Lola too? Well, you'll find out tomorrow, unless you already know!

Vocaloid IA has a new demo. This is Tori no Uta, using a more polished, if not, complete IA voicebank.

Thanks to fans in the Vocaloid fandom, we can now say that Crypton's "Miku no Hi Kanshasai" concert, also know as the final concert, is not final at all, in a sense. They will simply retire the Project DIVA models they currently use, and use the models that Marza Animation Planet made for the next series. These are the models that are shown in the openings of the Project DIVA series (Project DIVA, Project DIVA 2nd, Project DIVA Extend).

12th January 2012

More demos? Of course!
A demo of both SeeU and Tone Rion. It is called Myth Color Mystery.
And also, Effanineffable sung by Mew, as a demo for Vocaloidstore. English lyrics are in the description!

Also, here is a shoutout:
Would you like to have your fanart featured on a popular cosplay website? One of our members Mixiao is opening up the opportunity for all members to showcase their works. Interested? Visit here to find out more.

There are some more Project Mirai outfits and songs revealed! Click here to see. Megurine Luka seems to have her Happy Synthesizer outfit on. But where's Gumi? We're not sure if she will be part of the game yet, because she has still not been made by Nendoroid artists at Good Smile Company.

Also, news regards Weatheroid. Confirmation from AH-Software arrives, claiming they know nothing of Weatheroid, therefore it is not a Voiceroid. However even Vocaloid isn't mentioned, so perhaps it isn't related to Vocaloid. Only time will tell!

Also, big thanks to :kh013:, for asking Crypton about the project MTT and reporting to us about foreign submissions. Yes, foreign submissions are allowed. However, they will not translate their rules and regulations. If your application does not follow them, they cannot accept it.

11th January 2012

We've updated a rule on cosplay photos: Cosplayers must also not submit any deviations that do not have a sense of effort put into, as judged by our administrators.

SEGA and Piapro are collaborating for a contest! For the new game Project MMT (it is probably this, for new console PS Vita. You can draw any of Crypton's Vocaloids and design a yukata and school uniform piece (please note there is a template for the yukata). The contest is here.

10th January 2012

Weekly songs and fact time! Here we go:

Okay, for our own song, we have a remix (one of the rare times we actually do this!) - Friday Night Fantasy (GLXY Mix). It is originally by Pierre Porte & His Orchestra (so yes, it is a classical piece, now a super house-style song. This may not even be classed as a Vocaloid song, but it does contain Tonio, our first ever feature of him!

This week, we have a great song from the NND Vocaran (which I have personally been listening to all week) by Mitchie M, Eazy Dance. Mitchie M is the guy that made FREELY TOMORROW and City Boy. Want to know his secret? We'll reveal it in the fact!

Fact: Mitchie M, famous composer of FREELY TOMORROW and artist who broke through the trend of allowing Vocaloids to sound synthesized, actually uses an expensive software known as Melodyne.

And just to add to that - it is because it is expensive, hence why not many (if at all) have used the combination of Melodyne and Vocaloid. Since Mitchie M is a professional artist, he does not only use it for Vocaloid, but for singers he works with as well.

Next, an adorable Megurine Luka Nendoroid appears! Mikatan covers the latest Nendoroid created for the Cheerful Japan! project.

9th January 2012

Hatsune Miku is collaborating with Sanrio once more, for an all new line of merchandise, featuring Hello Kitty as Snow Miku! Please take a look at the merchandise available here.

Alright, Weatheroid (it WAS Weatherloid, but changed) has been confirmed on Anime News Network to have a synthesized voice. Knowing that Vocaloidism and the Hatsune Miku Miku blog have both reported it, it is safe to assume it will be either a Vocaloid or Voiceroid.

IA Demo! New demo accompanied by new, and cute, art, Cafe Latte shows IA's moé side! The song is composed by Void-P. There is also a song named Lost Summer by Kobayashi Onyx-P (remember that guy? Saihate fans?). Lastly, Melody by Kurumijun-P.

7th January 2012

Looking for illustrators for WEATHERLOID, which MAY be a Vocaloid/Voiceroid (we don't really know as of now). Not much is known, apart from the fact that the voice provider is Yamagishi Airi. The character is called Airin (but perhaps it is adapted from "Aileen")

Tone Rion gets yet another demo, this time,See You Tomorrow by Otetsu.

6th January 2012

Sorry, yesterday we forgot to change the title so some of you may assume yesterday's news was weeklies again, when it wasn't. So for SeeU and Chinese Vocaloid Contest news, go to the previous day, directly below!

Today we share another VY1V3, named Hope for Azure Sky. The title sounds a little traditional/tribal, but is actually quite dance-able, containing even a bit of dubstep!

5th January 2012

Guess what came back? That's right, the journal skin!

Firstly, apologies for the lateness on this one, but SeeU actually had three other demos! There was Mission, in both Korean and Japanese. These were from Yamaha so that explains the different artist and not being on SBSArtech's channel. Vocaloidstore have also uploaded a demo, named ITA-BASAMI.

Also the Chinese Vocaloid contest ended yesterday! Have a browse.

2nd January 2012

Welcome to the new year! Today, it is only the weekly installment of music and facts, they are great, as usual.

This song, as is all songs by 8# Prince, is nice for those that love electronic dance!  Here is Miku with Baby Maniacs. It is quite popular and new, but avoided 1st place in the rankings.
Next is the Vocaran. It's SEX48 - Vocaloid Group. It is a parody song of "Ue kara Mariko", a song by AKB48. Here is also a comparison video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=779B0n…
Lastly, a fact to satisfy your Vocaloid hunger: Did you know that soon, the first generation of Vocaloids (Leon, Lola, Miriam, Meiko and Kaito) are unsupported by Yamaha and will soon retire from sale? Although Meiko and Kaito will live on as Crypton are updating them, but it is highly unlikely that Zero-G will do the same to their Vocaloids.

Have a good year!

31st December 2011

Last post of this year! So to start, we have some cool figurine coverage for you!

Firstly, Gumi in her Exit Tunes Gumism look myfigurecollection.net/item/94…
And next, Gumi scaled as a chibi, which appeared in Gumitive myfigurecollection.net/item/94…
Lastly, a chibi Gumi can be spotted, alongside Sekihan and Piko (the uttate mita-now-professional-singer) myfigurecollection.net/picture…
Here is also a Lapis Aoki figurine myfigurecollection.net/item/94…
And lastly, a Megurine Luka figurine based off Tony's illustration myfigurecollection.net/picture… (Tony also had a Miku piece turned into a figurine).
However, these are simply a draft, so they are not the completed versions. They are also not from Good Smile Company, so they're not Nendoroids.

So that's that. Let's look back at the Vocaloid fandom this year! Vocaloid has been extremely big this year. It started pretty slow to begin with, but in December through to January there was VocaloRevolution, which introduced CUL, now her own Vocaloid. But in February the winners for the Everyone's Vocaloid Project were announced, and this was an exciting moment for many. The only Vocaloid2 to be released in 2011 was VY2, in April, as well as the unfortunate earthquake that struck Japan . The Toyota adverts with Miku came out in June, which didn't receive much positive feedback, but oh well, at least they tried. Also in June, a "secret party" which introduced Vocaloid3, Spanish, Chinese and Korean samples were shown. At that time, the Korean sample had the most attention, mainly due to the high quality, and perhaps the genre of the song. Following that MIKUBOOK was introduced, showing that Crypton has considered the American Vocaloid market. And after a while, in October, Vocaloid3 came and tons of Vocaloids came out, almost all at once! We've now got 10 Vocaloid3 Vocaloids, whilst one of them is an update of a previous Vocaloid, Megpoid. So there are 13 voicebanks! Two Vocaloids were produced with actual members of the public,  these were Yuzuki Yukari from VOCALOMAKETS, and Oliver with Vocatone, as well as the previous Everyone's Vocaloid Project, and the Chinese Everyone's Vocaloid Project, still happening now (deadline is January 3rd by the way). This goes to show how much creators of Vocaloids are engaging with their fans!  And lastly, Hatsune Miku got a Facebook page, Youtube Channel, and even a collaborative Google Chrome ad.

Vocaloids were truly enormous this year, and we hope for an even bigger, and more successful year of Vocaloids in 2012!

30th December 2011

Another demo from Voctro Labs. This one uses both Bruno and Clara, Bésame si te atreves.

And also, Merry ChristmaSeeU from SBSArtech!

That's all folks!

28th December 2011

Oops, seems we've missed the Kagamine twins' birthdays. Happy belated birthday, Kagamine Rin and Len! Not only did their default voicebank come out, but also their Append voicebanks, on the same date (in a different year though).

Hatsune Miku is promoting Toyota's " TOYOTA BIG AIR 2012" event, which is a snowboarding competition. If you would like to read more, follow this link.

Also, does this journal entry notify those that didn't used to have these notifications? It will help if you commented, thank you.

26th December 2011

I hope everyone had a good time yesterday! VocaloidMaster, also known as Guiseppe, gave two more demos despite Bruno and Clara already being released. However, these introduced the capabilities of the Spanish Vocaloids, to sing other languages. Clara sings A Quién le Importa (Alaska). Bruno sings Italian in Volare. The only other Vocaloids with such capabilities was Tonio and perhaps a few other Engloids, but that was it.

Oliver has two demos from VocaloidMaster too, Moon River, and I wanna Be Like You.

Yuzuki Yukari gets her first feature here, with Elliptical Orbit - Yuzuki Yukari!
And Kemu dominates another week, with new song Invisible - Gumi and Kagamine Rin. Kemu also made Life Reset Button, which ranked first place a few weeks ago.
Lastly, a fact for you: IA will be the second Vocaloid with an outer space theme, after SF-A2 Miki, although for SF-A2 Miki it is only assumed due to her blue "hoodie"'s unusual material, the star motif, and her ahoge.

25th December 2011

Merry Christmas, happy Hanukkah, and whatever else you prefer!

There is an event at Anime LA featuring Vocalekt Visions and Koda-P, on 8th of January, 2012. Koda-P is one of the most well-known Western users of Engloids. If you're in the area, go check it out! Please read more here, and an official announcement from Tempo-P.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the debut of PowerPuff Girls in Japan. Taito, the game machine prize makers, have planned prizes featuring PowerPuff Girls and Vocaloids. Artist Nigo draws the art for the characters.

24th December 2011

Oliver gets another demo, named Oliver's Lullaby. Have you heard some Oliver songs by the public? Oliver has invaded Nico Nico Douga as well as Youtube, with original works and covers from both sides of the world.

Bruno and Clara were also released yesterday (well, the date says 23rd, but that depends on your time zone). Again, Bruno and Clara are only sold as downloads and does not contain the Vocaloid3 full editor. However, they are Vocaloids with an extremely low price! Each voicebank is 80€, although if you want both, you can get a super good deal of 140€! Please note that European residents will need to pay 19% extra for VAT. Please check out this article. You'll also notice that Rumple's artwork is used throughout the site now, and there are a few more sections to the site. Welcome to the family, Bruno and Clara!

Lastly, Crypton have revealed a teaser for us: what could it be? In this video, which was uploaded only moments ago after Crypton uploaded their NND version (which was also moments ago!). Some people are already saying it is for the PSVita, but nobody knows as of yet.

23rd December 2011

The Ueki-loid we previously mentioned is actually a Vocaloid of a famous deceased Japanese singer named Ueki Hitoshi (surname first), who died in 2007. As explained in the Wired article, new technology allows the syllables (or as it should be called, phonemes) to be extracted from vocal tracks in order to create the Ueki-loid. You can listen to the sample of the Vocaloid on the linked site. Apparently a lot of people were pleased with the voice and it sounds similar to Ueki Hitoshi. It is lastly, revealed that the Vocaloid is for private use only. This is our first ever confirmed Vocaloid to be private use. Akikoroid is still an unsure topic. Please read more about it on the article.

21st December 2011

IA gets two more demos. The first is Meteor. Lia also covered this, as a comparison. It was also her birthday yesterday (20th of December), so happy belated birthday, Lia!

It was announced just yesterday by Anders from Zero-G, who is also the "leader" of Vocatone. Oliver is released today, and if you signed up to VocaloidOtaku you can get a special code where you can get Oliver for cheaper. Check it out here, and the Engloids blog covers this also here. (By the way, Big Al's birthday is tomorrow!)

Yuzuki Yukari by VOCALOMAKETS is out today as well, although technically it is meant to be the 22nd, it already is the 22nd in Japan (whilst most countries in the west are in the 21st)! A crossfade of some previous demos is on Youtube, as well as reference sheets for Yukari on the official website.

Lastly, CUL is released today! There don't seem to be any promotions with her as of now, but we'll let you know if there are!

20th December 2011

More IA demos? More IA demos! I've personally lost track of how many there are now, but here we go. The first one is Stardust, and the next is Freesia.

Another Exit Tunes album comes out soon, and it is called Nyan Cat. It is an album by Daniwell, featuring both Hatsune Miku's version, known as Nyanyanyanya! and Momone Momo's version, simply known as Nyan Cat. Daniwell also uploaded a a video, promoting the album. The original Nyan Cat video put with the famous poptart cat animation has over 53,000,000 views.

19th December 2011

Hatsune Miku's official Youtube channel has been opened! On there, Crypton staff have uploaded four songs that Miku sung during the Hatsune Miku's Thanksgiving Day event. AS said on the channel description, "official videos, works by creators and videos as collaborations with corporate partners are shared here".

By the way, did you hear? Gakupo and Lily are being rerecorded for Vocaloid3! Here is a Lily demo in Vocaloid3. Notice how she is much smoother than her original voicebank, and quality seems to have risen as well.

Voctro Labs, the company who are producing Bruno and Clara, have announced their winners! Please see them here. Congratulations to the winner, and the runner ups!

And also, weekly songs and fact.
Here is our song: Sweet Logic - Hatsune Miku
And NND's song: Heat Haze Days - Hatsune Miku (New PV ver.) (word of warning, contains violence and gore)
And lastly, a fact from waraulol. The surnames of Ice Mountain members corresponds to the 5 elements in Japanese mythology: water (Kiyoteru; although "Hiyama" means "iceberg"), fire (Akito), wind (Natsuki), earth (Tohma), and heaven/sky (Haruto).

17th December 2011

Ia has an Official Demo Track Spot, where all released and previously unreleased songs can be heard. Some songs were played during Vocafarre.

Speaking of which Vocaloidism has written an article explaining everything that happened. Please view it here. Also check out the Aoki Lapis section, because there is a contest, and a new demo!

VocaloAppend, a new album by Farm Records, uses beta versions of Kaito Append and Luka Append! Please visit the site for samples!

16th December 2011

Vocafarre has finished. And from the reports, it is said that Suzune Ring will be released by Vocanext, a new company. This means tha Hibiki Lui should also be by them. Please also check out these screenshots by HatsuneMikuMiku, as well as these. A game for Suzune Ring will also be produced by Vocanext, which is why you see that 3D image of her.

Tone Rion is out today! Please enjoy her music, and we'll get a folder for her as well.

Miku and Luka will also be teaching the little ones how to speak English!  It is in relation with Miku getting an English voicebank as well. Please have a peek at some screenshots, again, from HatsuneMikuMiku.

SeeU finally gets two Japanese demos (despite examples of her Japanese voice already being online). The first is With The Hope. The second is Facing Tomorrow.

And lastly, two new demos for IA. Falling Apart, and Asunohikari.

15th December 2011

IA, the new Vocaloid based off famous singer Lia, has two more demos! Here is Headphone Actor, and Shounen wa Kyoushitsu ga Kirai Datta No Da.

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai images are online! Here it is, and so, it is confirmed that Len and Kaito are a part of this as well.

Has anyone seen those Google Chrome videos that feature celebrities, such as Justin Bieber, or Lady Gaga? Well, another celebrity joins, this time, it's Hatsune Miku! An uplifting melody from Miku really shows the awesomeness of this fandom! The song is by kz (livetune), also the composer of Yellow, and many other songs. You can view the lyrics in the description.

14th December 2011

Today, we have some very amazing news! But firstly, Tone Rion has yet another new demo. It is known as Foam Sink, and shows of her capabilities with other song genres.

Also, Hatsune MikuL Project Mirai is confirmed to have Gumi in! This also means that Happy Synthesizer and Matryoshka are playable songs. And it gets even better - upon changing changing characters, certain songs will also change the Vocaloid used! This means for example, Tricolor Airline (sung by Miku originally), if played using Rin, can actually make her sing it! Tricolor Airline is a confirmed song, along with Watashi no Jikan, Daughter of Evil, LOL -lots of laugh-, Piano Girl, and Sing and Smile. Meiko and Len have also been confirmed, but Kaito is still waiting. Please look at this post, and this image as well.

12th December 2011

One of Oliver's previous demos had a few complaints of bad mixing, therefore has now been remastered. Lonely Flight, remastered version!

12th December 2011

It's been a while since we've been on time with the weeklies, so sorry for that. But hey, we're here today! So it's Face - Lily from us this week. however, the Vocaran have Space Ghost - Hatsune Miku. Lastly, fact! Whilst some Vocaloids do not have specified ages, fanmade ages do tell approximately how old the Vocaloids sound.

Next up, Vocafarre. Vocafarre is a free to watch show, live in about three days. There are two sections, and each will show different things. They will talk about Vocaloid3 characters, all of which have been released in Japan (SeeU was just released today in Japan!). This will hopefully let you know a bit more!

An event for Nekomura Iroha illustrations, created by AH-Software! The link is here. however, he haven't got the appropiate information as of now. If anyone can translate it, please note us!

10th December 2011

Yes, hilarious title for a song, no? Tone Rion's second demo, Poo Song! That's all for today.

8th December 2011

Peperon-P made a demo for the new "moe" Vocaloid Tone Rion! You can find her new demo and information about her here. The colours seem to have changed once more, mainly the green. And it seems that the nasal qualities are intended (as they are quite popular in the moe feel). Her surname is revealed to actually be from "Usagi" and "Nemuri", meaning rabbit and sleep respectively (which is where "Tone" comes from). This gives us two purple rabbit-themed Vocaloids! Tone Rion will be released on the 16th of December.

8th December 2011

Two demos from Vocatone's official Youtube came out. The first one is a song demonstrating the abilities of Oliver with a high voice, called Going Home. It is a song by Antonin Dvořák and the VSQX/mixing is by MasterVocaloid (Guiseppe) and Anders Sodergren.
The next song is a lower song called Lonely Flight. This is created by Puffhin, a reasonably famed Engloid user.

Utatane Piko, created by Ki/oon Records, was released today last year! This is Utatane Piko's first anniversary. He is based from the uttate mita Piko, who is now a professional singer.

6th December 2011

Oliver is now shown on PowerFX's site. You can click his image and see his page, but so far there isn't anything much on it. We'll let you know when there is though!

And so comes in a new week, with new songs! This one is a classic, although pretty old, so it wouldn't be surprising if some of you have not heard this before: Anatani Hana Wo Watashi Ni Uta Wo - Hatsune Miku. This is our song for the week.

A new song, Shinkai City Underground - Kagamine Rin, which is this week's NND Rankings topper.

And here's a fact for you too! Currently, all Vocaloid's Appends (or V3 Megpoid in Internet Co., Ltd's case) portray the character slightly older, as well as being slightly less-clothed.

4th December 2011

It was this day, two years ago, that the AHS trio, SF-A2 Miki, Hiyama Kiyoteru, Kaai Yuki, came about! SF-A2 Miki is known as part of a artist vocal series. However, currently she is still the only Vocaloid to fall into this series. Hiyama Kiyoteru and Kaai Yuki were the first Vocaloids to have some sort of backstory. Kiyoteru is a maths teacher, who teaches Yuki, a 9 year old student. More recently Kiyoteru was made more popular with the introduction of ICE MOUNTAIN, his band. It is then when we are revealed that he is actually 22 years old, personality, and past.

3rd December 2011

Since the 1st of December, the website for the Chinese Vocaloid submissions has been opened! Please check out current designs here.

Also, Vocalekt Visions are planning to have Koda-P at the 2012 Anime LA convention!  The con, will be in January, and if you hadn't guessed already - will be at Los Angeles. What is your opinion?

2nd December 2011

Yuzuki Yukari is quickly chasing the top as AHS and Vocalomakets reveal her bunny hood illustration, as well as her Voiceroid+ voicebank!

Voiceroid+ is a spin-off software of Vocaloid, created by AH-Software. For Yukari, she requires a whole new voicebank in order to make her sound realistic. However, Ryuto, also known as Gachapoid, was also given this opportunity, via Vocaloid-flex, rather than Voiceroid+. You can listen to Yuzuki Yukari's new Voiceroid+ demo here. With Voiceroid+, apparently she can also laugh, or cry.

There are also three more singing demos. On the site, there are nine, not counting the Voiceroid+ one. However, we're going to link them from the last demo we showed you. So here is demo 07, demo 08 and demo 09. Demo 09 features her Japanese voicebank, singing English. Behind My Daisy is an original song by Kagome-P, originally using Kaai Yuki's voice.

Lastly, her price has been determined. Her Vocaloid version can be sold for 11,800 Yen, or 9,800 Yen for her Voiceroid+ version. It should be noted that with her hood up, she is referred to as a Voiceroid+, however, with her hood down, she is a Vocaloid. This is how AHS and Vocalomakets have decided to sell her.

28th November 2011

There's a Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Extend Android skin! It is created officially by Crypton, as seen here.

Next up, weeklies!
We chose a really good song for you, as always! Here you go, Planetarium - Miku Append

This week we also have Parameters - Hatsune Miku by 40meter-P as a Weekly NND Vocaloid Ranking.

Also, here's a fact! The company with the most Vocaloids that are not solely created by themselves is Internet Co., Ltd, with Lily (by Avex Management and Yamaha), Gachapoid (copyrighted character from FujiTV) and recently, CUL (original character by Vocaloid Revolution)

Akasaka Aka uploaded a nice non-watermarked image of IA's official art to Pixiv! You can view it here, and if you click it you can view an even larger version.

27th November 2011

IA will have ten demos, according to the developers from 1st PLACE. As well, the artist, Akasaka Aka revealed a reference sheet on her Twitter.

CUL also has a PV by Internet Co., Ltd. If you have an account, use this link. If you don't have an account, you can use this alternative.

Lastly, Vocaloid3 VOCALOID-P data series Vol.2 is to come! For those that don't know, this is a package of VSQXs from famous songs. Examples from the first volume are Electric Love and GALLOWS BELL. You can view the boxart here.

25th November 2011

Happy Black Friday! This November has been extremely busy with Vocaloid news (just look at how long it is!). Anyway, Vocaloid3 IA has a new demo! Check out the official website, in the "sample" section, where IA sings Lia's most famous work - Tori no Uta. It has been noted to be extremely similar to Lia. However 1st PLACE staff want you to know that there are harmonies from Lia, because they used the original soundtrack. It has also been edited, not just the raw version. The developers have been reported to want to include a .VSQX file for Tori no Uta as part of the product. Please be aware that this isn't even the full completed version - it is only at beta stage! Quite good for beta, don't you think?

Also, it has been noted that Yuzuki Yukari may be based on a moon rabbit (from Chinese folklore). Whilst her hoodie suggests rabbits, her last name contains "tsuki" (turns to "zuki" when accompanied by the "yu"), which means "moon". It also explains the crescent moon as part of her name.

Also on Pico World, a game on Facebook, there has been another collaboration! It seems like Crypton is trying to promote Vocaloid into the Western world. Here is an article about it.

Engloids get their own folders now! A lot of our members have been screaming it, and we've decided to add it. Please allow some time for us to fix all information and such. However, you can add your works to our new folders now.

24th November 2011

VOCALOMAKETS, a Vocaloid project created by AH-Software and 7 Vocaloid producers, has revealed their Vocaloid! She is called Yuzuki Yukari (Eastern order: last name first"). Visit their site and click the image for a bigger resolution. Her slogan is "She unites you all with her voice". Her hoodie also seems to have rabbit ears. Scroll down for another illustration, with several others. You can check out her new demos. Demos 4 - 6 are new, whereas 1 - 3 were already shown before. And of course, she will also be a Vocaloid3. She will be released on the 22nd of December, which if you remember, is the same as CUL's release date. Her name also derives from "yu", meaning to unite , and "zuki", meaning "moon"

A clearer image of IA has come up! It seems that her image was shared by her tumblr. Please also check the official website, where you can find her boxart and official art in a high resolution. Her suggested range is B2 ~ A4 and her tempo is 63 ~ 228 BPM, supporting one of the widest tempo range in the Vocaloid world.

23rd November 2011

IA, new Vocaloid developed by 1st PLACE, has her design revealed. You can see her here.

by the way, we do not know the Chinese Vocaloid's information. It'll probably be similar to Everyone's Vocaloid Project; choose the gender, colours, age, anything!

20th November 2011

CUL, short for Culnoza and culture, has a new demo.  You may also see a big version of her boxart here. The preordering of CUL can be either as a starter pack, or voicebank only version. The product will be released on the 22nd of December.

Oliver also has a Twitter, you can visit it here. MMD-Molechan, or also referred to as simply Mole, has shown some previews of Oliver's 3D model. Please check their gallery for the 3D model images.

A Chinese Vocaloid has been planned! As this website tells, the Chinese Vocaloid will need a character image - and they want you to design it! Your work must be have been sent before, no plagiarizing, nor viruses. A more detailed translation will be given if found. The image can be submitted when they give you the URL. Here are some important dates:

20 Nov 11 - Beginning of contest (this is when you can start your work)
1 Dec 11 - Site will be opened to submit your work.
3 Jan 12 - Contest ends
Feb 12 - Results/Winner is chosen
June 12 - Vocaloid is to be sold.

Also as a small note, it seems Aoki Lapis is a fairy-like Vocaloid. She is often portrayed smaller than most Vocaloids when in a group picture. For example, she is very small here, and on here. It should also be noted a 3D model of Aoki Lapis was shown during the Vonama. Compared to Akikoroid and Megpoid's models, hers was small. So we may have our first miniscule Vocaloid!

20th November 2011

In case you haven't seen this already, SBSArtech's channel on Youtube has updated with a new video. It asks for your feedback, for which demo you liked best. Here is the video. She also says "Find me on eBay.com" at the very end of the video, again, demonstrating her English skills.

Now, for the weekly videos and fact.

The song for this week is interesting! A rare Meiko feature has come about: Large Flower - Meiko. Must be a blue moon tonight.

After Senbonzakura, I didn't expect to see video effects like this in a while. But here it is, Centennial Night - Hatsune Miku. This is this week's top song on Nico Nico Douga's weekly ratings.

Lastly, a very interesting fact. "Kasane Teto has actually got a Youtube channel! If you like her, subscribe and follow with the news!"

20th November 2011

Yet another demo has been put up by the members of Vocatone. The song title is Dinky Dink No Time To Think, originally a song by Sopop, sung by Sonika. It even has a fun PV, drawn by lawlietlk. Chao♪Freak actually mentioned that he was unsure if that was the final tuning for the demo, but something had gone wrong so it became public, but they're leaving it there for now.

You can also have a look at the reference sheet right here. It includes reference for Oliver with and without his coat.

19th November 2011

It seems SEGA has been banning videos of Project DIVA Extend Openings to be uploaded. And you'll notice in yesterday's post that the videos actually came from Nico Nico Douga. Well today we have one that is on Youtube, with subtitles, and the voice actresses. It is the second bonus movie: Sekarinun Graffiti. At the end, "Luka" says "You all pass", but the audio is cut, so that's just a little note for you all. We can't tell how long it will be til that video will be taken down, so you will have to hurry.

As for the first opening, the script has been translated kindly here (please click the "Show" button next to the text that says "Spoiler". You can also follow the first opening in yesterday's news, directly below).

Now, for release dates of future Vocaloids:

Bruno and Clara - Somewhere in December
Suzune Ring - 12th December 2011
SeeU (in Japan) - 12th December 2011
CUL - 22nd December 2011
Oliver - Somewhere this year
IA (can be preordered now) - 27th January 2012
Hibiki Lui - Winter/Spring (in Japan) 2012

Aoki Lapis is 95% done according to Vocaloidism.com, so we can expect her this year, or early next year according to predictions.

Vocalekt Visions, a Western group that try to promote Vocaloids in the West, attended the Pacifix Media Expo 2011 a few days earlier, and here are some videos of what they've been doing. Here's part 1, and also part 2.

18th November 2011

A truckload of news today! So to start, a little thanks to LolitaPhantomhive for letting us know of two videos. The first one is the opening, but it is only a preview. It has already been told in this journal but it was quite a while back. Also, Crypton has invited all the voice actresses back for a little voice acting in the Kocchi Muite Baby video. This video was originally used for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA 2

Next, Internet Co., Ltd has revealed CUL's new design. You can take a look at it on this article, or Internet Co .,Ltd's site. In case you don't know already, CUL is a character created for VOCALO Revolution, sometimes shortened to VocaRevo. It is a project created by Hiroto-P/164-P. It started as a one-off TV show, but has now expanded to other things. Finally, CUL came to get her own voicebank, donated from Kitamura Eri. you will also be able to hear some of her demos here.

And to end today, the Vocaloid-P Data Series Vol. 2 is to come out on the 16th of December this year. It will most likely have a new cover art, but the VSQXs it contains aren't mentioned.

17th November 2011

EDIT: It has come to my attention that the journal is suffering from some problems. Please wait whilst dA sorts out their journal system.

Your weekly digest have been up since yesterday, but unfortunately there wasn't news to bundle with it so we didn't post it. So let's start with that:

Song of the Week: Boku - Boku D'n'T - Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Len (check out the cool art on our front page too!

Weekly Vocaloid Rankings: Life Reset Button - Gumi (seems that Hatsuko is back with their stylish drawings!)

Fact of the Week: "Whilst Internet Co., Ltd's most popular Vocaloid is not Lily, she seems to have a lot more promotions than the other Vocaloids they have, especially as Lily was not developed by them (it was created by Avex Management and Yamaha)."

Also, another contest related to SeeU has been announced. Here is a digital leaflet. Thanks to a fan on VocaloidOtaku it can be condensed to:

Contest - PV of SeeU
Part 1: Original SeeU song with PV, or
Part 2: PV for one of SeeU's demos

The video can be of an animation, cosplay, or anything as long as it's a video. It can be 1 person making everything, up to 5 people. There can be multiple entries, and the contest begins today, ending on 12th January 2012. On that note, crecrew.net is open at beta stage! That means there will still be faults, and people are free to comment on things to sort out. The link is simply crecrew.net, have fun!

15th November 2011

Anders, leader of Vocatone, noticed a lot of people expressing that they like Scarborough Fair as one of Oliver's demo. For that reason, he has made a full version. Since Oliver's art and demos have been released, there have been many articles, especially from those that don't normally post about English Vocaloids. A reason for this may be due to the amount of fans, as well as the excitement shown by both the Western and Japanese Vocaloid communities.

Next, take a look at some of the images on this article. It includes images of SeeU, and her initial ideas. Also as a sidenote, crecrew.net, a new Korean Vocaloid community created by SBSArtech, will soon open, and requires only an email, as opposed to the idea of using passports as well.

12th November 2011

Yes, new English Vocaloid3 Oliver's demos and artwork has come out! The demos are Circus Monster and Scarborough Fair. The first demo has a filter, therefore is a bit more muffly.

And also, the artist, lawlietlk also says:

To give you all some background on Oliver's design:
The main inspirations for his outfit were the uniforms worn by the Vienna Boys Choir, and the kinds of clothes upper-class boys and men would wear in the late 18th-early 19th century. When I was first put up to the task of designing for Oliver, I was told he was a "classical" type VOCALOID, so naturally I went for a classical design.
The bandages are there for the sake of keeping the whole "monster" theme that PowerFX is known for. Stitches didn't look quite right, so I went for bandages instead.
Only surprisingly late in development did we realize that our Oliver bore similarities to Oliver Twist. So that was just pure coincidence. 8P

James was referenced from other pictures of goldfinches. There was no reference used for Oliver.

You can check this on the artist's gallery as well.

:new: EDIT: Aoki Lapis has a new demo too! It is titled Daydream Flight. The song is actually the full version of the clip we had heard a few weeks earlier, when the Vonama was still on.

11th November 2011

It has been announced that there will be a "final" concert of MikuPa, short for Miku Live Party. A new site has opened up. The concert will be on the 8th and 9th of March, and Anime News Network has written their own article about it. The concert is called "Miku no Hi Dai-Kanshasai", which can be roughly translated as "Miku's Thanksgiving Day", also hinting her last concert. But perhaps by that it means that it is only the MikuPa traditions, until a new series of concerts come out. Also check out the promotional video and Facebook. It will be held in Tokyo Dome City Hall, in Tokyo.

Also, there is a character similar to Hatsune Miku in The Sims Social game on Facebook. As part of the new Tokyo range of clothing, Miku's famous blue pigtails make a feat, although not the whole outfit is copied (probably because they aren't exactly doing a collaboration with Crypton - just a slight "reference").

10th November 2011

Toyota collaborated with Crypton to promote Hatsune Miku and the Toyota Corolla. The advert has now won an award. Happy days!

Next, Voctro Labs, the home of new Spanish Vocaloids Bruno and Clara, are holding a fan art contest, and the prizes will be the Vocaloids themselves (Bruno and Clara for first place winners, and Bruno or Clara for second place winners. Please read the rules and objectives on the site.

8th November 2011

Alrighty, time for some weeklies. Let's go back to appreciating Gumi's old voice with Behind Me - Gumi. She had potential before, even more now!

And also, for Nico Nico Douga's Weekly Vocaloid Rankings, we have 3331 - Hatsune Miku. It's quite rare to get songs with only numbers in the title.

Lastly, an interesting fact. "The first ever Vocaloid song to be uploaded onto Nico Nico Douga was a cover by LOLA ."

Reports from the VocaloidOtaku Oliver thread states that a "well known -P" whas helped in creating Oliver's demo song. Who could it be? We don't know yet, but feel free to guess!

5th November 2011

Happy birthday Meiko! It seemed like only a while ago that she had her birthday, but here she comes again with her 7th birthday! Remaining popular amongst many, Meiko's birthday is celebrated with art and songs, as always.

SeeU is now available through eBay! This is for the convenience of overseas users, including Japan, who had no access to the software previously as it was limited to Korea. There are also several images of goodies packed inside!

VideoGamesNewYork are offering their readers 2 tickets to the Hatsune Miku Live Party 2011 (on November 10th). you will also receive a poster and a signed copy of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA if you win. To win, simply subscribe to their newsletter!

4th November 2011

Things seem to be coming in pairs this month (yesterday was the two hintings). Today, we have AH-Software's collaboration with 7 producers' Vocaloid! Demos have been released before, but a new one has just come out! Have a listen!

And we all know CUL is getting her own voice right? Well Internet Co just released her first demo! What do you think, good?

3rd November 2011

A report comes in claiming that Crypton have tested their Vocaloids Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Len and most have given a negative response. Apparently they sound unnatural. It suggests that their Vocaloids may be updated to the Vocaloid3 engine.

And secondly, the Spanish Vocaloids, Bruno and Clara, have been hinted to having possible redesigns. MasterVocaloid, also known as Guiseppe, has also revealed in the VocaloidOtaku forums that there have been death threats due to the art.

1st November 2011

Wow, that was a really busy month of Vocaloid news! But there's more to come, let's start with the weeklies though.

Here's your song from us! Lost Destination - Kagamine Len. Pretty good right? And now behold the top song from NND this week, Sweet Float Flats - V3 Gumi. Lastly, here's a fact, so that you won't be confused! "Because V3 Megpoid does not require the original Megpoid to run, it can be considered they are different Vocaloids (however we know they aren't)."

Engloids.Info have been questioning the distribution of Vocaloid3 outside of Japan, as well as how (physical DVD copies or download). According to Dom Keeffe from Zero-G, they are still in discussion. As well, thy revealed another new Vocaloid. It will be based of a Celtic female voice. The name is undecided, but the artwork is done. Announcements are to come soon!
